Medical Benefits Abroad / Cigna Envoy

No changes to coverage for 2024.

Does your position require you to travel internationally for Maritz business purposes?  Are you worried about what might happen if you have a medical emergency while out of the country?  We’ve got you covered!

All Maritz employees are covered at no cost to you by the Cigna Global Medical Benefits Abroad plan.  Yes, that’s right – no premium costs, no deductibles, and no out of pocket costs for covered services, up to the maximum limits specified on the Schedule of Benefits in the PDFs section.

Traveling on international business is bound to bring some uncertainties. Cigna Global Health Benefits’ Medical Benefits Abroad® (MBA) plan provides coverage for unexpected injuries and illnesses that may occur while you’re on an international Maritz business trip.  You will have access to around-the-clock support, no matter what time zone you’re in.

Enrollment in the regular Cigna medical plan is NOT required.  There is nothing you have to do to enroll - all employees are automatically covered when traveling on Maritz business.

    How It Works

    • When traveling internationally on Maritz business, carry the ID card (see PDFs section of this page).  This is not your regular medical ID card you use for medical care when you are at home.

    • Should something serious happen, please call the number on the back of your ID card (which is 1.800.243.1348) as soon as possible.  Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    • Customer service representatives in the global service center will let you know where the nearest direct settlement provider is (providers who agree to bill Cigna directly).  You can go to any provider you choose, but if you don’t use a direct settlement provider, you may have to set up a Guarantee of Payment or pay the expenses out of your pocket and then submit a claim to Cigna for reimbursement.  They will help you get the emergency care you need, from ground transportation and translators to finding the right health care professionals or facilities, which includes helping to coordinate your treatment plans or requesting a Guarantee of Payment and getting assistance with medical appointments and hospital admissions.

    • Visit the CignaEnvoy.com website in the Customers section and select ‘Medical Benefits Abroad (MBA) Plan’ under ‘International Travelers’. Log in by entering user name: 08444AMBA and password: Cigna1 to search the global directory to find nearby in-network health care professionals and facilities.  You can also access a certificate of coverage and, most importantly, identify health care professionals and facilities who bill Cigna directly.

    Payments

There are 3 scenarios when it comes to payment:

    1. Go to one of the direct settlement providers.  Provider bills Cigna directly.

    2. Set up a Guarantee of Payment (see the Guarantee of Payment flyer in the PDFs section).  The member or provider calls the Cigna customer service number on the back of the ID card to set up the direct billing arrangement between provider and Cigna.  Members will not have to pay out of pocket.  This must be set up prior to an appointment or as soon as possible in the event of an emergency.

    3. Pay in full out of your pocket at the time of service.  Keep all receipts and itemized detail of the care received, then submit documents for reimbursement on the CignaEnvoy.com website.

    Coverage

    • Emergency medical treatment that may include hospital admissions, surgeries, outpatient medical care, and ambulance service

    • Prescription drugs and replacement medicine for lost prescriptions that are medically necessary

    • Dental emergencies for an accident to sound natural teeth or alleviation of sudden unexpected dental pain

    • Medical evacuations in case you require immediate medical attention and adequate facilities are not locally available

But wait – there’s more!  Although personal (non-business) international travel is not covered under this policy, there is a Personal Deviation/Sojourn Travel benefit included with this plan, which includes up to 7 days of personal travel when taken in conjunction with an approved business trip.  For your spouse or dependent children to be insured, they will need to be traveling with you on your business trip, subject to the limits specified in the plan.

Please carefully read the documents in the PDFs section of this page and keep a copy of the ID card so you will be prepared and know what to do prior to leaving on your next international business trip.

We wish you safe travels on your next Maritz international business trip!
